Magnetic Sound is rare on cinefilm. 95% of all 8mm cinefilm is silent simply because the technology only became available much later in the life of this format. You can check to see if your film potentially has sound or not by examining the film itself. If there is a noticeable thin brown strip on one edge of your film then could potentially have sound. Sound generally only occurred on Super 8 film.
